How It Works

How to Create a QR Code in 3 Simple Steps

Making a QR code with PaperBee takes less than a minute. There's nothing to install and no account to create — it works on your phone, tablet or computer.

  1. Step 1

    Enter your link or details

Paste a website address, or switch to Text, Wi-Fi, WhatsApp, Email, Phone or UPI and fill in the fields. Then click “Generate QR Code”.

  2. Step 2

Pick a theme or design your own

Choose one of 12 ready-made QR code themes, or change the dot pattern, corner shape, colours, gradient and logo until it matches your brand.

  3. Step 3

    Download and share

Download your QR code as PNG, SVG, JPG or WebP in up to 2048 px, or copy it straight to the clipboard. Print it, post it or send it on WhatsApp.

QR Code Themes

Custom QR Codes That Match Your Brand

A plain black-and-white square works, but a designed QR code gets noticed — and scanned — more often. PaperBee gives you 12 ready-made themes, from the clean Classic and professional Corporate Blue to the warm PaperBee Honey, colourful Sunset and Candy gradients, and a striking Midnight Gold on a dark background.

Every theme is fully editable, so you can start from one and fine-tune it into your own custom QR code design.

  • Dot patterns

Six module styles — square, dots, rounded, soft, classy and classy-round. Rounded and dotted patterns look friendlier on menus and posters; classic squares suit official documents.

  • Corner shapes

The three big squares in the corners are what phones look for first. Make the frames square, rounded or circular and give their centres a different colour for a polished, branded look.

  • Colours and gradients

Use your brand colours, add a two-colour gradient, or set a custom or transparent background. Our live contrast check warns you if a colour combination might be hard to scan.

  • Your logo in the centre

Upload your logo or use the PaperBee bee. We automatically switch the code to the highest error-correction level (H), so it still scans even with a logo covering the middle.

Why PaperBee

A Free QR Code Generator Without the Catches

Many QR code makers create dynamic codes that stop working when a trial or subscription ends. PaperBee's QR codes are static, so they're yours permanently.

  • 100% free, no sign-up

Create as many QR codes as you like without an account, a trial or a credit card.

  • Never expires

Your codes are static: the content is stored inside the code itself, so they keep working forever with unlimited scans.

  • Private by design

Codes are generated in your browser. Your link, Wi-Fi password and logo are never uploaded to our servers.

  • No watermark

Your QR code is clean and yours to use anywhere — including for business and commercial printing.

  • Print-quality files

Download vector SVG for crisp printing at any size, or PNG, JPG and WebP up to 2048 × 2048 px.

  • Works everywhere

Our codes follow the standard QR format, so they scan with the built-in camera on iPhone and Android and with Google Lens.

Best Practices

6 Tips for a QR Code That Always Scans

A beautiful QR code is only useful if it scans first time. Follow these simple rules when you design and print your code — especially for menus, posters and product packaging that will be printed in bulk.

  1. 01

    Keep strong contrast

Dark dots on a light background scan best. Avoid pale yellows or greys for the code itself — our contrast checker will warn you.

  2. 02

    Print it big enough

Print your QR code at least 2 × 2 cm (about 0.8 inch). A good rule of thumb: size = scanning distance ÷ 10, so a poster read from 3 m away needs a 30 cm code.

  3. 03

    Leave a quiet zone

Keep a clear margin around the code so scanners can find its edges. Don't place it over busy photos or patterns.

  4. 04

    Keep logos small

A logo should cover no more than about 30% of the code. The bigger the logo, the more of the code is hidden.

  5. 05

    Use SVG for print

SVG is a vector file, so it stays razor-sharp at any size — ideal for banners, standees and packaging. Use PNG for websites and social media.

  6. 06

    Always test before printing

Scan your code with two or three different phones before you print hundreds of copies, and double-check the link opens the right page.

Good to Know

Static vs Dynamic QR Codes

PaperBee creates static QR codes. Here's what that means, and when it's the right choice.

Comparison of static and dynamic QR codes

Where the content livesInside the QR code itselfOn the provider's server (via a short link)
Expires?NeverUsually when the subscription ends

For most uses — a website link, Wi-Fi details, a UPI ID or a WhatsApp number that won't change — a static QR code is simpler, free and more reliable, because it doesn't depend on any company staying in business. If you might change the destination later, point the QR code at a page you control and update that page instead.

FAQ

QR Code Generator — Frequently Asked Questions

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. You can create and download unlimited QR codes for free, without signing up. There's no trial period, no watermark and no paid “unlock”.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. PaperBee makes static QR codes — your link or text is stored inside the code itself, not on our servers — so they work forever and can be scanned an unlimited number of times.

Can I add my logo to the QR code?

Yes. Open “Logo in the centre”, upload a PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP image and adjust its size. We automatically use the highest error-correction level so the code still scans with a logo in the middle.

Which file format should I download?

Choose SVG for printing — it's a vector file that stays sharp at any size. Choose PNG for websites, presentations, social media and WhatsApp. JPG and WebP are also available. PNG, JPG and WebP can be downloaded at 512, 1024 or 2048 pixels.

Is my data safe?

Yes. Your QR code is generated entirely in your web browser. The link, text, Wi-Fi password or logo you enter is never sent to or stored on PaperBee's servers.

Can I change the link after printing the QR code?

Not for a static code — the link is part of the pattern. If you expect the destination to change, point the code at a page you control (for example your website's “offers” page) and update that page instead.

Do coloured QR codes scan properly?

Yes, as long as there is enough contrast: a dark code on a light background works best. PaperBee checks the contrast as you design and warns you if your colours might be hard for phones to read.

How do I create a UPI or Wi-Fi QR code?

Choose “UPI Payment” or “Wi-Fi” above the input box. For UPI, enter your UPI ID and payee name (and optionally a fixed amount). For Wi-Fi, enter the network name, password and security type. Guests then scan with their phone camera to pay or connect.

Can I use these QR codes for commercial purposes?

Yes. QR codes you create with PaperBee can be used on business cards, packaging, menus, flyers, invoices and any other commercial material.

How big should I print my QR code?

At least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 × 0.8 inch) for items held in the hand, like business cards. For posters, divide the scanning distance by 10 — a code read from 2 metres away should be about 20 cm wide.
